Open Air

The Open Air dining concept is a bigger hit than I expected. When the main windows are open it's like a magnet for new guests and the radiant heaters above the tables sure help to keep them comfortable. I think the real benefit of open air dining will show itself when the sun and air get really hot...too hot to sit outside but too nice to go indoors. The windows allow for you to sit outside so to speak, but also within the Air Conditioning. We'll see.

Riversplash is next weekend and we've made some arrangements for parking for those with reservations. We'll be moving valet service to make it more accessible. We will give you all the instructions upon our reservation confirmation. Swig will offer a nice getaway from the hectic streets while still allowing you to enjoy the festival.

Hope to serve you soon.

Dennis Getto again and The Observer

Another big thank you to Dennis Getto for the very flattering mention in this weeks dining feature article, how unexpected and pleasing. I'd also like to thank The Observer for their ***1/2 three and one half star rating and very complimentary review.

If you are coming out tonight, please give us a call ahead to let us know.
Serve you soon!

Thank you

Sometimes I find myself frustrated trying to handle all this new business. We continue to search Milwaukee for the best service staff available and hire as many as we find. Then, in that frustration we find ourselves thankful for such success and all those who've helped us to achieve such success along the way. Sure, there is going to be small bumps in the road when you're traveling down it this quickly, but I promise a simple request for more attention to any detail should get the job done while you're with us at Swig. And keep asking for me when you come in, I love to meet our blog readers.

Riversplash - Reservations Only

For those of you who aren't aware Riversplash kicks off festival season the first weekend in June. June 3rd and 4th to be precise. At first we had considered closing for the street festival as we weren't sure how Riversplash would mix with our typical guest. But we have received an overwhelming amount of requests to host a few large groups and private parties that weekend, so we will in fact be open. If you are considering dining and enjoying an evening with Swig that weekend, please realize that we will be seating by RESERVATION ONLY that weekend. We will continue to offer valet service that weekend to accommodate for the parking difficulties. Stay tuned for more or call us right away to reserve! 414-431-7944.
Looking forward to serving you soon!

Celebrities

I have been pleasently surprised with the low profile that local and national celebrtities are able to keep while dining with us. As a matter of fact, we rarely know of there presence other than the an advance phone call to set up a reservation. Visiting baseball players have been the most suprising, great guys in general and happy to go unnoticed in many cases. Theater actors and staff, musicians and local celebrities have also been equally as pleasing. Honestly, it has been somewhat of a personal thrill for me to meet so many of these great people.

Oh, and did I mention the need to make reservations this topic? Ha, sorry, it's a bit of a sore spot.

Hope to serve you soon!

Dennis Getto Review

I am very proud of our D. Getto review and thank him for helping to expose our concept to many more people than our advertising could hope to reach. The company of restaurants that our three star rating puts us in is something we take as a huge compliment. Both The Knick and Roots were inspirations for Swig, to receive the same recognition as these establishments, coupled with the support of those restaurants ownership and staff have been indicators that we may have achieved our goal. Thanks again to everyone who has supported us through our first 90 days, it's your word of mouth that's making all this happen.

Media Thanks

A quick thank you to MKE of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, M Magazine and AOL's digitalcity division. All three featured some very nice pieces on Swig and we appreciate the feedback. If you find yourself enjoying Swig as well, please don't miss voting for us on Milwaukee Magazine's restaurant ballot or Best of CitySearch.

Reservations again

After that weekend I thought it was necessary again to stress the need for reservations. I apologize if anyone reading this blog was ultimately turned away due to lack of waiting space. At no point did we dream we would be this successful so quickly. It's forcing us to make changes weekly it seems, but I promise we're doing our best to accommodate all interested guests. I suppose I could offer this advice, join us on Sunday evenings, it's one of our most relaxed nights at the restaurant and you can regularly walk in a grab a great table by the windows or in the pit.
