Summer Part II

July has definitely brought the dog days of Summer. Some super high humidity and triple digit temperatures have kept our open air dining to a minimum, but thanks to the many of you who have braved the heat and humidity to visit us this summer, we've made the best of it.

Milwaukee is without question the city of festivals and we've run into many of our regular guests at these events. It's funny, anytime this summer we happen upon a regular guest outside the restaurant, they always seem to apologize for not being at Swig. C'mon, we always say, this is what Milwaukee summer is about, out and about enjoying the two month hiatus from the winter. While the dip in summer business isn't fun by any means, it's certainly a part of doing business in downtown Milwaukee. As of today, late August and early September are filling up nicely with private events, a sure indicator that normalcy is just around the corner. Thank you again for all of your support throughout our infancy, it is our pleasure to serve you.

New Wine and sweet treats

We have been tasting wines non-stop it seems for the last few weeks and have made some decisions about what to add to our
ever-growing list. The new INCA Cabernet-Melbac blend is my favorite and Angie can't escape the Robertson Gewurztraminer. Plus as we made a stop by Simmas to pick up a birthday cake, we were sample two new pieces that are most certainly being added to the dessert list right away. A lemon poppy cheesecakey tart as well as a new peanut butter brownie. Holy cow, get me a glass of milk.

Holiday Weekend

This just in...Beautiful weather, the 4th of July holiday and Summer(fest) do not exactly add up for a booming restaurant business. Not too worry, the staff has stayed in unbelievably good moods and the guests who do seem to find a way to dine with us find themselves with our undivided attention. Plus, tis the season to test some new ideas. Last night I made a few attempts to introduce a few guests to our version of wine flights and they seemed very enthusiastic. Seems that a "build your own flight" program is just what the summer ordered. So a quick thank you to those of you who have chosen to show off a bit so far this summer by bringing your dining friends to Swig! We sure appreciate your support.
Hope to serve you soon in the worlds greatest restaurant!
