Thrilled

That's the best way to describe our delight at being named one of Milwaukee's Best New Restaurants today. There was no sign from MJS that it was coming, but boy are we proud. Just as last spring when we received two weeks of great coverage in a row, things may change slightly at the restaurant for the next few weeks as lots of new guests stop in to check us out for the first time or have been reminded to stop in again.

Anyway, a huge thanks to all our guests that have brought us to this point and an especially large thanks to Dennis Getto for his recognition.

Happy Holidays!

Gift Certificates and New Years

WOW! Our first holiday season is teaching us a few lessons. The reponse to our 20% gift certificate offer and new years eve has been overwhelming. So much so that I wanted to be sure to relay two pieces of information to you if you stop in. If you are interested in gift certificates over the next two days, please give me a call ahead of time so you don't have to wait at all for them when you arrive. Also, We are about 1/2 sold for New Years, this a full two weeks ahead makes for a scary couple of days around the 30th and 31st. Please call as soon as you can for the package as I am sure we will sell out before the last minute. 414-431-7944

Lastly, we will be closed from Saturday through Tuesday the 27th and then again on New Years Day. You should find us totally refreshed and ready to take on your January post Holiday parties right away.

Hope to serve you soon.

apparently that was a holiday weekend

It's funny, having not been through the holiday season as a restaurant, I wasn't sure what to expect. But business and our guests have been great. I'm not sure how we fit so many large groups in such a smnall timeframe and I think each group genuinely had an enjoyable and memorable evening. It's pretty enjoyable providing that for someone, a special memory of the holiday season celebrated with us as hosts. Chef Frank's new items were a real hit as well. The palermo roll is a personal favorite and Angie loves the creamy chicken soup...the cilantro takes her to Mexico every time. Thank you to those who took me up on my offer of trying out the new feature items on this past super snowy Thursday. The Chai Berry Martini was an added bonus for many. A very busy week ahead with several special events each day, I hope to see you as part of your celebration! Thank you so much for your support of our business, we're just about a month away from our 1 year anniversary...now THAT is crazy.

Martini Society II and great soup

Our second Martini Society event wasn't as well attended as our kickoff event, but the niether was our wine night at first, but the small group of us had a great time tasting martinis and a few small plates. The attendance was partially my fault because I couldn't get our update out fast enough, but I am quite confident it will grow each month.

This weekend Frank has come up with a great chowder/soup - a chicken tortilla soup with a touch of cilantro. I do not enjoy cilantro in general, but this soup was superb. Frank is having a ball with this stuff, he's got something new every couple of days and can't wait to get it in front of our guests, he rarely misses.

Hope to serve you this weekend!
Oh, by the way, Saturday is SOLD OUT at this point so if you
are joining us this weekend, choose Friday night, unless you are comfortable with a 9pm seating on Saturday.

Crazy Holidays

Another snowy start to this day, isn't too early for this junk?

As you can imagine things are getting a bit crazy around the restaurant lately and it feels great! Guests are generally in good holiday spirit and bringing lots of friends out for a bite and a swig or two and feeling very generous. Thank you so much for involving us in your holiday celebrations....

...And we're back to me asking for you to give us a quick heads up if a large group of you are stopping by, just a quick call to let us know so that we can have something prepared for you. Thankfully the restaurant is large enough to accommodate most of our walk in business, I just don't want anyone dissapointed that we can't handle their group during an otherwise cheery time...it really kills the mood.
